Hi! I was just wondering if you can help me. Where can i buy japanese yaoi and shonen ai mangas in digital form? Are there any links possible? Thanks!

Hello! I’m not sure if you mean raws or the official licensed works. In terms of raws, I’ve never heard of digital copies but I could be wrong. But as far as I know, raws are only available in physical copies.

If you want to buy licensed English versions, there are digital copies available! You might want to check Digital Manga Guild as they license titles, and most stuffs licensed will be available in digital copies first. You can also check SuBLime for copies as well. Jmanga seems to also have some manga, but they don’t have only BL stuffs. They’re the recent licensor for Junjou Romantica (but they’re starting from volume 1…so uh…). Or it seems like they’ve changed their mind about Junjou Romantica

As for raws, I doubt you can obtain digital copies, but if you want physical copies, places to give a shot would be yesasia, and amazon!

I’m sorry I don’t know better places since I don’t purchase these myself. ^^;; I still hope this answer helped you (and others)!

If anyone has better suggestions, I think I switched on the replies so you should be able to reply, or send in messages into my askbox, thank you all very much for your contributions as well! :)

Hey! well, why not the white one? Even if I know you better now! x)

3 facts about my personality? Okay!

1. Once I do something, I see it to the very end. Like I start a translation, I do it to the end. (I think bwahaha.)

2. I’ve become quite carefree and lazy lately. Needless to say, I don’t like doing work. I only like doing things that are fun. (Like reading BL endlessly…)

3. …I’m a perv. ….a yaoi perv… But I’m less of a perv than some others out there… :| (Is this even a personality…? XD)

Hi! I know you usually only translate comics and stuff, but theres a narusasu artist whose page has an R18 section, but the directions to access it are in japanese D: "サスケの忍者登録番号の最初のゼロを取った5桁の数字"と"「BL」を別の言い方で、数字に置き換えた時の数字"で掛け算した結果の数字8桁を h t t p : / / p i c n i c . m a i n . j p / xxxxxxxx. html の xxxxxxxx の部分に入れたものがR18ページのアドレスです。18歳以上の方でサスケ受けに抵抗のない方に向けたページです。18歳以下のかた、性描写の苦手な方はアドレスの入力をなさらないようにお願いいたします. If you could translate this it would make my lifeeee :D ps. hope ur liking japan :)

I hope I’m just not reading the Japanese wrong since I’m quite tired of all the orientation by my Japanese uni but…

The number is supposed to be “12606801”. The first part, “サスケの忍者登録番号の最初のゼロを取った5桁の数字” means Sasuke’s registration number, remove the 0 in front and you get the 5 remaining digits. Combine it with “BL」を別の言い方で、数字に置き換えた時の数字”, which should be yaoi = 8 (ya) 0 (oh) 1 (i), since this code wants it in numbers. I have no idea why I can’t get to the page, so I have a suspicion I miiiight be reading something wrong here. :| (Or the page has been removed…?)

Even so, on the same page, it says that you can also find the R-18 stuffs on pixiv, so you might want to pop by the pixiv page:
http://www.pixiv.net/member.php?id=1609556 You can get an account easily since quite a bit of pixiv has English.

And thank you so much~ I’ll try to enjoy it as much as I can but I’m just simply too drained from orientation and too much social activity going on. ^^;;

And to everyone else, feel free to send any questions you have in~ I promise you that you aren’t bothering me! (Unless it’s already answered in the FAQs~)

hey. it's me again! i'm kinda on an impasse right now because of kanji TT_TT i really do not know where to start with kanji? should i start learning the verbs first with the on-kun reading? or follow the kanji by grade? or just read a dictionary since there would be furigana on some kanji so what i need is only the meanings? what do you think is the most effective way to learn reading it? should i call you sensei? haha sorry for a lot of questions :D

It depends on how you absorb. If you’re good at memorizing how the characters look first you can start with that. Or if you feel like it’s better if you started that along with meanings and the readings then go ahead. There’s no real better way, to be honest, it all goes with how you learn. ^^;;

I’m afraid I can’t really help you on this one ‘cause my mother language is actually Chinese so I have little problems with regard to kanji since they’re so similar and if I didn’t know how to read I’d already have a gist of the meaning already…

But for us we follow textbooks, so we actually follow it by how much we should know by what’s given in the textbooks and by grade more or less. That’s the ‘easy’ way of learning it instead of having to plan them out by yourself.

And no! I’m not qualified to be sensei. ; _ ;

:) thank you very much for your answer, i really find it helpful :)) haha i will try my best so i can also understand the language. you are so lucky coz a lot of people would want to have proper education for Japanese language :P and you even have Mongolian exam? [saw your lj post] good luck on that! take care!!! ♥

Welcome! I don’t mind answering questions if anyone has any, as long as I can uh, answer them. :’D

Well, I guess it depends? There should be some sort of classes nearby, though it’s not always readily available. Online resources and shops are probably the best way to start yourself off with increasing your interest in the topic. :D

Yeah, I’m currently learning Mongolian now, but sadly the department is going to close after we finish our current year, so there won’t be this when I return for my last 2 years. :( And I will, thank you~!

hello :) just curious where did you learn Jap? :D any tips so that i can focus study+dying= studying the said language? thank you ♥

Hello! I’m happy you sent a message my way~ <3 (F-First person to ask me something on this blog! *gives cookies*)

I (officially) started 3 years ago and started translating about 1 year into studying it, but I was really lousy back then. Now that I’m currently studying Japanese at university as a degree, I’ve started translating even more.

I’d say that everyone learns differently so it’ll be good to explore how you learn. But reading a bit more easy texts is the way to go. Manga in RAW helps, but the language used will be, as you have already known along with anime, rather crude most of the times. Even so, it helps you get used to Japanese characters and kanji that appear. Next is to probably try to listen to radio shows of the anime shows you’re interested in. Maybe you could try Oh! Naruto Nippon! for starters because I remember seeing translations of the radio shows floating around so while listening you can refer to the translated scripts to get general ideas and catch words. It helps you to get used to listening them and tones, so it will be useful.

As for writing, you just have to get used to it. There are many textbooks to start you off with, so you can explore your options here (don’t forget the kanji book!) or at Kinokuniya if you have one nearby you. Many use that text to learn Japanese as beginners. (I never used it, but I presume it must be good. The one I used was this version instead as I first began Japanese at a different place.)

Finally, I suppose perseverance? ^^;; I think you can do it as long as you keep going and never stop practicing. Perhaps if you aren’t taking classes and you are self-taught, you might want to try practicing about 5 kanji a day, and slowly increase the numbers as months go to allow your hands and eyes get used to it.

Good luck! I’m sure you can do it. :D If you have more questions feel free to keep sending them in. (I love questions, anyone can send them in regardless of what they are. xD)

P.S. jisho.org is a wonderful site should you need to check meanings, kanji strokes or kanji you don’t understand. (Ahh sorry for the super long reply, hope it was helpful for you and all who are viewing this!)
